Editorial : From the Back Cover Biomedical / Electrical Engineering Nonlinear Biomedical Signal Processing Volume I: Fuzzy Logic, Neural Networks, and New Algorithms A volume in the IEEE Press Series on Biomedical Engineering Metin Akay, Series Editor For the first time, eleven experts in the fields of signal processing and biomedical engineering have contributed to an edition on the newest theories and applications of fuzzy logic, neural networks, and algorithms in biomedicine. Nonlinear Biomedical Signal Processing, Volume I provides comprehensive coverage of nonlinear signal processing techniques. In the last decade, theoretical developments in the concept of fuzzy logic have led to several new approaches to neural networks. This compilation delivers plenty of real-world examples for a variety of implementations and applications of nonlinear signal processing technologies to biomedical problems. For the first time, eleven experts in the fields of signal processing and biomedical engineering have contributed to an edition on the newest theories and applications of fuzzy logic, neural networks, and algorithms in biomedicine. Included here are discussions that combine the various structures of Kohenen, Hopfield, and multiple-layer "designer" networks with other approaches to produce hybrid systems. Comparative analysis is made of methods of genetic, back-propagation, Bayesian, and other learning algorithms. Topics covered include:
- Uncertainty man
There is a shaded area for oceanic range, black dots for breeding area and a star for accidental occurrence.
In the center of the book is 11 plates with good, though sometimes cramped, artwork showing many head or head and chest only shots with several habitat shots with the whole bird along with several other congeners for comparison. And Kris does a good job of explaining and highlighting this point.
I can't remember whether he says this in the book or not (I really only read the part dealing with the essays, and didn't even look at the section on the MBE), but people spend too much time worrying about tangential details, and too little time focusing on the core issues. Basically very little information on survival, mostly boy scout type of information.. It is delightful. Really helpful for studying! It outlines the chapters so it's easy to spot the key points. Right away, the author instructs the reader to install the provided lesson files on their hard drive a
