He was able to control his drinking most of the time; something that is almost unheard of among alcoholics and usually is accompanied by what we would call today "anger management issues." Dixie began drinking heavily after they were married and that story apparently awaits the second volume. All very pretty and some seem like larger details of other images.
Overall very nice. I must vigorously work to constantly stand in the midst of unthinkable challenges and situations and trust that God is working everything out for my good.
Jerry reminds us that if we believe God is sovereign, then we must also understand - while living our lives accordingly - that God brings all the good things that come into our life (and we should always give Him thanks for) and (and this was the part that was so challenging for me) that GOD also ALLOWS THE BAD TO COME IN AS WELL.
