Our whole family loves this book (children almost 4 and almost 6 years of age and Mom and Dad, too).

The illustrations are nice and the children (and the adults, too) learn something simple about the Christmas traditions around the world. Some families bottle up their grief, and never tell a soul. "Always, Rachel" is beginning to do just that. There is a fair amount of local politics that serves as a background for the jokes, but there are also many stories about the affairs of the heart of the hero of the strip, Farley, and his on-going realtionship with Irene the metermaid who makes parking such sweet sorrow for him, about the four bears who run the Fog City Dumpster for the four-legged gourmets of San Francisco, and ab! out Orwell T. At times very touching and sad, and at other times very funny, this is a very moving, emotionally-charged and honest book..
