England, 1536. Lord Wolf, hardened soldier and expert lover, has come to King Henry VIII's court to claim his new bride: a girl who has intrigued him since he first saw her riding across the Yorkshire moors. Eloise Tyrell, now lady-in-waiting to Queen Anne Boleyn, has other ideas. She has no desire to submit to a man she barely knows and who-though she is loath to admit it-frightens her more than a little. Then comes that first kiss. It awakens in both a fierce desire that bares them to the soul. But as the court erupts into scandal around the ill-fated Queen, Eloise sees firsthand what happens when powerful men tire of their wives. Dare she surrender her body and her heart?
Editorial : "For a terrific historical romance with a couple who can't keep their hands off each other, this is perfect." ---RT Book Reviews
Waffled.on to much which diluted the enjoyment out of not a bad story. I am pleased that I found a copy for my library.. I am not ashamed to admit that I teared up during parts of this novel, which, in my eyes, is a sign that it was written by a masterful storyteller.
Hosseini is never restrained as he weaves several stories into a tapestry that is cohesive both in theme and in space. I would highly recommend this commentary for anyone seeking a devotional guide for going through the book of 1 Peter. This author was recommended as a fine example of time travel but I have to say that the time travel element didn't work for me in this book. Very informative. I love that we learn about traditions in other cultures and that the children from each country pile into the sleigh so they can all come back and have a celebration together at the end.
After the final page, a little more detail about each of the traditions is given for parents to read to children who are ready
