Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Nonetheless, the words of many hymns are readable (just barely), and I was pleased to find "Bring flowers of the rarest" and "Mother Dearest, Mother Fairest", hymns which are saccharine by today's standards, but for me resurrect fond memories of a distant childhood.. On the other hand, the saint can seem, or can be, immensely selfish as well and one's own obvious moral demands can seem like a deluded and obsessive nagging to others. The writing was very choppy and fragmented in this novel. Jack's wife, Marsha, is suspected of being a Communist sympathizer, and as a result Jack's job is at risk. I liked it. The book covers the development of the exercise and related considerations, right through development of teams and the mechanics of running the exercise, report generation and appropriate follow-up. In retrospect her affair with food even parallels the arc of American history: the naievete of the 1940s giving way to the imperialism of the Fifties and Sixties, the hedonism of the Seve
