Editorial : About the Author Liane Sebastians graphic design experience has led her to working every aspect of the industry. Liane heads Michael Light Communications, a design firm specializing in corporate identity and publishing. She was the founder and owner of a predecessor design firm, the internationally acclaimed Synthesis Concepts. Her clients have included Anderson Consulting, BorgWarner, Helene Curtis, and Hyatt International, and she has spoken widely on design, technology, business, and creativity.

It does not pull off the same grand abstract sense of wonder that Diamond is capable of, but it has a greater warmth.

I found the sections on Dafur, Bangladesh, and Kashmir chilling: the book does a great job of describing the political/social situation on the ground, sketching out how these complex and fragile places are particularly susceptible to climate change, and then talking about the terrible consequences that are already playing out. The People of the Black Circle has a setting reminiscent of northeastern Afghanistan in the Harappan period around 4,000 years ago. Very well laid out and all necessary subjects covered.. The text is still good, and scholarship moves pretty slowly re these artefacts, or so I believe.
